More Schlafly and Backpocket News 10

Aaah, convergence.  Back in June we told you about the new brewery being built in Coralville, IA, Backpocket Brewing. Well, Backpocket recently announced groundbreaking for their new brewery is currently scheduled for August 31 at 9 a.m.

Then, in July we told you Schlafly Beer was going to start distributing in Iowa. I am happy to report that has already started as I spotted a variety of Schlafly beers at Johncy’s Liquor in North Liberty, IA the other day. I would expect other SE Iowa retailers are getting them in too. I’m not too familiar with their beers but, again, more options is always more better.

Oh yeah, that convergence thing.  As it turns out Schlafly had a trick up their sleeve for how to support the increased distribution area. They’ve started contracting the brewing of their beers. In June they announced plans to start brewing in Nashville, TN at Blackstone Brewing. Then, today they announced plans to start brewing in Coralville, IA at Backpocket’s new brewery.

Dry hopped APA is awesomely good and one of my favorites. It’s cool you have Kolsch cause then you should get the Seasonals also.

I’m hoping it means we get their special releases like Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and the other 750ml bottles.

We had Schlafly’s Reserve Imp Stout down in Kansas City. Ok, not mind-blowing. Pretty thin.
